2024 Townhall for the Frist Quarter

新春聚力,众志成城。3月12日,2024年一季度全员大会在瑞明职场召开。在龙年的初春,我携同安盛天平管理团队与现场参会的总公司各部门,以及在线的全国各分支机构和中心的同事们共同回顾2023年的成绩,展望2024年的发展大计。

2023年是充满挑战的一年,也是我们取得出色经营成果,值得庆贺的一年:全公司保费收入63.5亿,保费同比增速8%,所有业务线均实现了正增长;全年亏损额同比减少60%,是独资以来减亏幅度最大的一年;各产品线成本均有改善,共有19家机构的盈利水平得到改善;公司偿付能力充足率239%,比2022年上升了37个百分点;全司STIC得分97分。这份成绩来自每一位伙伴的努力,我们每个人都该为此而骄傲!

2024年,是公司扭亏为盈的关键一年,也是打造面向未来的核心竞争力的转折之年。在宏观经济充满挑战、市场竞争加剧的大环境下,加之新一轮的金融监管体制改革,行业必将走向高质量发展,公司也将顺应这一趋势,坚守“利润导向”,全司上下贯彻“降本文化”,集中资源打造盈利能力和可持续发展的业务基盘,走出属于安盛天平的独特发展道路。

2024年,在各条业务线发展方面:车险的利润导向不变,亏损机构需及时止血,盈利机构需跟上市场增速,稳定公司车险基盘;健康险需要集中发力新增业务,精细化渠道经营,向优质渠道倾斜资源;商业险持续提升两核及销售能力,严格成本管控;零售险保持叠加利润贡献,同时探索高质量增长。

2024年是效率提升、精益运营之年,为提升中长期竞争力,我们必须自上而下贯彻降本文化,完善各项成本管理的体系建设,严控各项费用支出,精打细算投入产出;集中资源,打造核心竞争力,提升定价、核保、理赔的技术能力,数字化赋能销售及理赔效率提升。同时夯实消保和合规建设基石,机构负责人守土有责。

在2024年目标展望环节,首席财务官Pierre LAUR表示,公司将坚持业务品质优先,聚焦车险精细化经营,持续推进非车高质量转型;全司各条线、各机构共同推进成本管控,坚决实现利润目标,探索可持续的经营之道。

公司执行副总裁、首席渠道管理和销售官周连成与全员分享了2024年的机构全险种保费任务及增长目标,并表示将通过贯彻成本优先和价值导向的文化,落实可持续发展等举措来确保业务目标的达成。

总经理助理兼总精算师、首席定价官殷兆男介绍了车险在2024年的工作重点,围绕亏损机构减损,严格执行手续费额度管理,减少获客成本亏损;推动盈利机构发展,协调必增业务与新兴业务的发展步伐,做好全司的稳定器和助推器。

健康险事业部负责人丁侃提出健康险在2024年换挡提速,通过总部赋能、机构部署、渠道深挖和客户价值四个维度实现巩固转型成果,精进专业能力的目标。

首席商业险业务官曾翔用“机遇与挑战并存”总结了商业险在2023年的表现,提出2024年要实现有利润的增长,并对商业险的保费、管理成本、核保端和理赔端均提出明确要求。

总经理助理兼首席理赔与客服官阳勇,强调了消保工作的重要意义——既是监管关注重点,又是落实以客户为中心的抓手。他要求不断完善消保工作机制,加强消保工作力度,通过理赔减损、廉洁合规管理和风险防范等举措,为达成全年经营目标做出贡献。

在此次大会的表彰环节,共有25位总部和机构同事摘取2023年度安盛之星,10支优秀团队荣膺总裁大奖,他们共同诠释了客户优先、团结一致、勇敢决策、正直领导的安盛核心价值观,值得每一位同事学习和借鉴。

一年之计在于春,新的一年,安盛天平也将继续笃定前行、乘风破浪,开启持续盈利和高质量发展的崭新篇章!

On March 12th, the first company townhall in 2024 was held in Ruiming. At the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, I, along with the management team, reviewed the achievements of 2023 and outlined 2024 plan, joined by colleagues from across all departments of the headquarters as well as branches and centers across the country’s remote participation.

2023 was a year full of challenges, and a year of fruition too, thanks to a set of excellent business results that worth celebrating: the company achieved a total premium income of 6.35 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 8%, underlined by positive growth achieved by all business lines; the annual loss decreased by 60% year-on-year, marking the largest reduction since the company was established after its full acquisition by Group; 19 branches’ profitability has been improved while the solvency ratio reached 239%, leading to an increase of 37 percentage points compared to 2022. Overall, the company achieved a score of 97 regarding the STIC. The achievement belongs to every one of you, and we should all be proud of it!

This said, the year 2024 is still a critical year to turn losses into profits.  A pivotal year too, to build our core competitiveness for the future. Amidst challenging macroeconomic conditions, intensifying market competition, and a new round of financial regulatory reform, the industry is bound to move towards high-quality development. The company will follow this trend, adhere to a “profit-oriented” approach, implement a “cost reduction culture”, focus on building profitability and sustainable business fundamentals, to forge a unique development path for AXA Tianping.

In 2024, with regard to the development of all business lines: the profit-oriented approach for motor insurance remains unchanged; lossmaking branches need to mitigate losses promptly while profitable branches need to keep up with market growth and stabilize the company’s motor base. It is expected that Health focuses on new business development, refines distribution management, commercial insurance continuously improves underwriting and sales capabilities, and strictly control costs, and retail insurance maintains the superimposed profits, while exploring high-quality growth.

2024 is set to be a year of efficiency. In order to improve the medium- and long-term competitiveness, we must implement the cost reduction culture from top to bottom, improve the construction of various cost management systems, strictly control various expenses, calculate inputs and outputs carefully; concentrate resources, build core competitiveness, improve technical capabilities in pricing, underwriting, and claims handling, and enhance the efficiency of sales and claims handling through digitalization. At the same time, we need to consolidate the foundation of consumer protection and compliance construction, and the heads of institutions should be responsible for their own territories.

Our Chief Financial Officer Pierre LAUR stated that we will prioritize business quality, focus on motor’s refined management, and continue to promote high-quality transformation in non-motor. We will work together to promote cost control, resolutely achieve profit targets, and explore sustainable business methods.

Richard ZHOU, the Executive Vice President and Chief Distribution and Sales Officer of the company, shared with all employees the company’s full-risk premium task and growth target for 2024, and stated that the company will ensure the achievement of business goals by implementing cost priority and value-oriented culture, and implementing sustainable development and other measures.

Scott YIN, Assistant General Manager and Chief Actuary & Pricing Officer, introduced the priorities of motor in 2024, focusing on reducing losses for loss-making branches, strictly implementing commission quota management, and reducing customer acquisition cost losses; promoting the development of profitable branches, coordinating the development pace of necessary business and emerging business, and serving as a stabilizer and booster for the entire company.

Fred DING, head of Health, proposed to accelerate the transformation of health insurance in 2024, which would be achieved through four dimensions: headquarters empowerment, branch deployment, distribution development, and added customer value, aiming to consolidate transformation results and improve professional capabilities.

Shaw ZENG, Chief Commercial Officer, summarized the performance of commercial insurance in 2023 as “both opportunities and challenges coexist”. He proposed that in 2024, profitable growth should be achieved, and clear requirements were put forward for the premium, management cost, underwriting and claims settlement of commercial insurance.

Yong YANG, Assistant General Manager and Chief Claims and Customer Service Officer, emphasized the significance of consumer protection work, which is not only the focus of regulatory attention, but also the key to implementing customer-centered approach. He required the continuous improvement of consumer protection work mechanism, strengthening the efforts of consumer protection work, and contributing to the achievement of the annual business objectives through measures such as reducing losses in claims, integrity compliance management, and risk prevention.

25 colleagues from headquarters and branches were awarded the 2023 AXA Star, and 10 outstanding teams were honored with CEO Awards. They jointly interpreted AXA’s core values of customer first, courage, integrity and One AXA.

A year’s plan starts with spring. AXA Tianping will continue to move forward with determination, and open a new chapter of sustained profitability and high-quality development!

Liverpool Football Club’s legendary superstar John Barnes was introduced on stage, followed by a wonderful introduction of the cooperation between AXA and Liverpool by Ms. Huang Changqing, Chief Marketing and Communications officer of AXA Tianping.

The cooperation between AXA and Liverpool began in 2018, with both parties committed to promoting physical and mind health, motivating and encouraging Liverpool fans and AXA customers to move forward and become better versions of themselves. Children from vulnerable communities are what AXA and its long-terms charity partner, Aiyou Charity Foundation have been focusing on for the past years. At this occasion, Aiyou Charity Foundation and the Guangzhou Faze Community Public Welfare Foundation were also invited to attend this event. John Barnes interacted with the children on stage, sharing life experiences while carefully answering every question they asked, encouraging them to persevere and move forward, and igniting the children’s dream of football.

Ms. Hou, who accompanied the children to the event from the Guangzhou Faze Community Public Welfare Foundation, said, “I sincerely thank AXA for bringing this unforgettable experience and opportunity to the children. Through interacting with the football star on stage, the children have not only improved their self-confidence and language skills, but also laid a solid foundation for their better growth. “欲渡黄河冰塞川,将登太行雪满山。长风破浪会有时,直挂云帆济沧海”。借用李白《行路难》中的诗句,描述山西分公司2023年上下半年的经营,我们觉得十分贴切。

2023年,山西全员信心满满,谋划书写分公司经营新的篇章。上半年,全员凝心聚力,展现出全新气象。但面对市场惨烈的竞争,成本逐渐高企,年中被迫限速调整,随之业务持续低落,士气不断低迷。困境中,在总部指导下,我们做实基础动作,重筛业务渠道,优化险种结构,各条线主动深化降本增效措施,寻求突破。转机出现时,我们迅速行动,快速调整,扭转了被动的局面,取得了一定的成效。

“开局即决战”,是我们对2024的新年寄语,也是山西分公司2024年的行动注脚。我们将锚定经营目标,在总公司的带领下,乘风破浪,全力以赴,确保车险的经营稳健和非车险的业务突破,实现分公司有效益的发展!

But the strong wind will break the waves, and there will be a time for that, directly raising the cloud-like sails, we will navigate the vast sea.” Using lines from Li Bai, this description aptly reflects the business operations of Shanxi Branch in the first and second halves of 2023.

In 2023, the entire team in Shanxi was fully confidant and is ready to embark on a new journey. During the first half of the year, everyone worked together with unity, demonstrating a brand-new spirit. However, faced with fierce market competition and gradually increasing costs, the business continued to decline, leading to a crisis in morale. In this difficult situation, under the guidance of the headquarters, we strengthened our basic operations, re-screened business channels, optimized insurance product structures, and each department proactively deepened cost reduction and efficiency enhancement measures to seek breakthroughs. When the turning point appeared, we quickly acted and adjusted, reversing the passive situation and achieving certain results.

佛山机构:

Foshan:

The year 2023 has passed in the blink of an eye, and we are extremely honored that the Foshan Branch has been promoted to Level 4 among the secondary institutional classifications in the management assessment. This is a testament to the recognition of our efforts and accomplishments in the past year “We are grateful and determined to improve” is what we want to say at this moment.

The tireless guidance from the headquarters are highly appreciated, helping us sort out the best course of action for us to progress. The relentless ascent of diverse business and management metrics serves not merely as the ultimate objective but also as the propellant that ignites the passion and dedication of every employee in Foshan.

Hence, we will not stop from there. We recognize that there is still a long way to go for us to live up to the standards of the star branches. Hereby, we promise to take the past achievements as a new starting point for our work, set higher standards for ourselves. We are more than confidant to constantly improve and perfect ourselves to unite, synergy and aim higher!

陕西机构:

在这个闪耀着众多卓越之光的舞台上,陕西机构有幸获得此次表彰荣誉,离不开总公司的指导,离不开陕西机构各部门之间通力合作,更离不开全辖每一位将士的拼搏和努力。

回顾过去一年,面对错综复杂的形式和艰巨的任务,陕西团队全员目标坚定,上下一心,实现财务年COR较上年度降低了4.5个百分点,从Ⅴ类机构晋级为Ⅳ类。然而,我们也清楚的认识到,在取得成绩的同时,我们仍然面临着诸多困难与挑战。

任重道远,为者常成,行者常至。在接下来的时间里,我们仍将持续优化内部管理,提升运营效率,降本增效,加强团队建设,要始终保持谦逊、务实的态度,笃定前行,策马扬鞭,赓续佳绩。

Shaanxi:

We are very honored to be shining through our excellent sister branches, which will not be possible without headquarters’ guidance as well as our colleagues efforts and dedication.

Looking back on the past year, faced with intricate situations and challenging tasks, the Shaanxi team members maintained a firm goal and united efforts to achieve a financial year-on-year decrease in COR by 4.5 percentage points, upgrading from Category V to Category IV. However, we are also aware that while we have made achievements, we still face many difficulties and challenges.

With great responsibilities come great challenges, and those who persevere, and act will achieve success. Going forward, we will continue to optimize internal management, improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen team building, and maintain a humble and pragmatic attitude. We will persevere and press ahead, spurred by our horses and determined to create further success.

AXA Tinaping First Case Prevention Committee Took Place

为强化公司涉刑案件风险防控水平,提升对案防工作的重视,安盛天平召开了2024年第一次案防委员会会议。公司总经理左伟豪领衔案防委员会委员,以及各分支机构一把手出席了本次会议。

左总在会议上就2024年案防工作进行了部署和指示,他强调2024年案防工作尤为关键,表示今年应按照新的案防监管规定开展更全面的案防工作,对开展案防自评估、案防体系建设和制度建设、工作流程风险排查和整改、个人信息保护风险管控、总分公司案防工作规划等重点提出具体的工作要求。

合规负责人罗昉宜表示,案防工作是监管非常重视的工作,国家金融监督管理总局财险司发布的最新动态,强调案防工作是我们的底线,也是我们的生命线。

本次会议特别邀请了安杰世泽律师事务所管理合伙人詹昊律师,开展关于案防新规解读和保险行业重点领域风险研判的专题培训。现场,各案防委员会委员与詹律师就涉刑案件风险防控工作等相关问题展开了热烈的讨论。

本次会议审议通过了2024年案防工作计划,并进一步提升了公司涉刑案件风险防控意识,明确公司今年案防工作要求。后续将通过总分协同,积极贯彻落实各项案防工作,不断提升公司涉刑案件风险防控水平,助力公司合规经营。

In order to strengthen the risk prevention and control level of the company’s criminal cases and improve the awareness to case prevention , Led by Kevin CHOR, our CEO, AXA Tianping held the first case prevention committee meeting in 2024.

At the meeting, Kevin deployed and instructed the case prevention workflow, emphasizing its importance and indicating more comprehensive case prevention work should be carried out in accordance with the new case prevention regulatory provisions. He put forward specific work requirements for key areas such as self-assessment of case prevention, construction of case prevention systems and institutional frameworks, risk investigation and rectification of work processes, risk management and control of personal information protection, and planning of case prevention work at the headquarters and branches.

Luo Fangyi, head of compliance, stated that case prevention work is a top priority for regulatory authorities. The latest news released by the Property Insurance Department of the National Financial Regulatory Administration emphasizes that case prevention work is both our bottom line and our lifeline.

Zhan Hao, the managing partner of Anjie Shize Law Firm was specifically invited to conduct a special training on the interpretation of new regulations on case prevention and the risk assessment of key areas in the insurance industry. On the spot, members of the Case Prevention Committee had a lively discussion with him on issues related to risk prevention and control of criminal cases.

The 2024 case prevention work plan has been reviewed and approved, raising the company’s overall awareness of risk prevention and control in criminal cases, clarifying the requirements for case prevention. In the future, through the coordination of the headquarters and branches, we will actively implement various case prevention measures, continuously improve the level of risk prevention and control in criminal cases and support the company’s compliant operation.

25 employees from headquarters and branches have stood out at the end of the AXA Star Nomination, being awarded for embedding AXA values throughout their daily work. A special column has been created for us to know them better.

In this month’s issue, we are glad to share the stories of Xinyi TANG from retail, Wei WANG form Nanjing sub-branch and Liang MA from Shanghai Operation Center to walk you through how they have been translating the value of Courage, Integrity and One AXA.

团结之星——唐心怡

唐心怡于2021年加入安盛天平,作为总部零售险一员,主要负责历史产品升级迭代、新产品设计开发,以及机构零售业务的日常核保咨询与业务报价。

在推动“夕阳红老年意外险”产品升级迭代的过程中,她对现有竞品进行深入剖析,结合市场需求去芜存菁。同时联合健康险事业部、理赔、运营、市场营销等部门跨职能协作,在保证保单综合成本率的前提下,首次引入增值服务概念,对存在交叉业务场景的产品进行叠加售卖。2023年,“守护时光”实现签单保费400余万元,赔付表现良好。

在日常工作中,她乐于与机构同事分享产品知识、业务策略、展业方向、业务风险偏好等信息。在处理机构零售业务报价时,她会有意识加强各机构授权核保人的定价能力,提升机构报价询价成功率、续保率,引导机构核保人从客户需求角度出发考量业务风险,在帮助机构业绩持续提升的同时,尽可能降低零售承保风险。2023年,零售分销实现签单保费2.26亿元,同比2022年增长34.78%。

Q1:获得安盛之星是什么样的感受?

很开心,但内心更多的是感恩。感恩公司提供了这么好的平台,让我可以实现个人价值;感恩领导及同事对我的支持及认可。荣誉属于过去,继续努力才是未来,这也将成为鞭策我的动力,我会把这份认可转化到工作中。

Q2:平时生活中有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

保持良好工作状态的秘诀是,无论多忙都要抽出时间去锻炼身体。我也会积极参与工会组织的一周一节的瑜伽课来调节身心,缓解压力。运动会释放多巴胺,当你动起来时,许多烦恼都会烟消云散,负面的情绪也会慢慢被消化掉。长此以往,身心状态会越来越好。

Q3:请分享最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧。

“世界上没有比活着更美好的事情,也没有比活着更艰难的事情。”最近在看《活着》。余华以福贵的故事为线索,讲述了一个家庭在苦难中的坚韧与爱。读完《活着》,我更加珍惜现在所拥有的一切,无论是家人、朋友还是身边的每一个小确幸。这本书不仅仅是对生命的颂歌,更是对人性的深刻揭示,它告诉我们,在逆境中保持坚韧和乐观,是我们每个人都应该具备的品质。

One AXA – Xinyi

Tang Xinyi joined AXA Tianping retail team at the headquarters in 2021, with main responsibilities on upgrading existing products, designing and developing new products, as well as providing daily underwriting consultation and business quotation for retail business.

When promoting the upgraded “Xiyanghong Elderly Accident Insurance” product, she conducted a thorough analysis of existing competitors and combined market demand to eliminate the unnecessary and retain the essential. At the same time, she collaborated with cross-functional departments such as the Health, Claims, Operations, Marketing to name a few. While ensuring the comprehensive cost rate of the insurance policy, she introduced the concept of value-added services for the first time and overlaid and sold products that existed in cross-business scenarios. In 2023, “Guarding Time” achieved a signed premium of more than 4 million yuan with good claims performance.

In her daily work, she is happy to share her know-how related to her daily work  with her colleagues. When processing institutional retail business quotations, she consciously strengthens the pricing ability of authorized underwriters from various branches, improves the success rate of branch quotation inquiries and renewal rates, and guides branch underwriters to consider business risks from the perspective of customer needs. While helping the organization’s performance continue to improve, she strives to reduce retail underwriting risks as much as possible. In 2023, retail distribution achieved a signed premium of 226 million yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 34.78% compared to 2022.

Q1: How does it feel knowing that you’ve been awarded as AXA Star?

I felt happy, but mostly grateful, as I’m given such a great platform to perform and excel, realizing my potential, making my values seen. I am thankful for the recognition from my line manager, as well as from my colleagues, which will act as nothing but a stronger motivation that will drive me to work extra harder moving forward.

Q2: What are your habits to keep confident, healthy and positive?

I choose to take out time and work out – the once a week yoga session organized by the company’s Labor Union for instance to keep a good mind health and shake off the pressure. Through working out, your body releases dopamine more than usual, chasing away the negativities which will transform you for a better person in the long run.

Q3: Please share with us a book, a movie or a theatre piece.

“There’s nothing good as living, and there’s nothing bad as living”. I’ve been such a big fan of the signature book named “To Live”by Hua YU, a book on how Fugui, the main character seeks to survives with resistance and love in face of life challenges and difficulties. I feel more than grateful for the life that I’m having after reading this book. It is such a blessing to have my family, my friends and my loved ones around me, who keep me resistant and positive. Some precious qualities that everybody should embed.

勇敢之星——王伟

王伟于2018年5月加入安盛天平,目前担任南京中支营销部经理一职。入职以来先后担任理赔客服和业务条线管理岗,跟随并见证着公司一步一步的转型发展。

2023年王伟带领的南京大分销团队实现总保费收入5317万,分销保费机构总体占比47.4%,车险实现规模和利润双优,非车转型继续稳步前进,车险和非车险客户经理人均产能均全省第一。

能荣获2023年度的“勇敢之星”,我感觉特别的荣幸与自豪,由衷地感谢公司领导、同事的认可与支持。这个奖励将更加鞭策着我,在未来之路始终保持一颗勇敢之心,勇往直前、敢为人先。

Q2:平时生活中有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

平常生活中我多数是通过一些户外的活动,来使自己保持乐观的心态。周末带着孩子一起爬爬山,公园里、游乐场里与小朋友们一起释放多巴胺……

Q3:请分享最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧。

我推荐微软前中国区CEO吴士宏老师的著作《越过山丘》。这本书陈诉了吴士宏如何摆脱自己的困惑,以及她如何帮助企业管理者越过山丘。读这本书,可以感受作者是如何的敢爱、敢恨、敢一飞冲天、敢粉身碎骨。这是一本饱含人生体悟与职场智慧的启示录,谁的人生不需要翻过一座又一座山丘呢?当我们越过山丘,可以眺望另一方开阔景象,有不期而遇的惊喜,有无穷变幻的四季风景。

Courage: Wei WANG

Wang Wei joined AXA Tianping in May 2018, and currently holds the position of Sales Manager at the Nanjing Branch. Since his entry into the company, he has successively worked in claims, business management, evolving with the company as it embarked on a transformation journey.

In 2023, Wang Wei’s team has achieved total premium income of 53.17 million RMB, with a total distribution premium income accounting for 47.4% of the company’s total. Both the scale and profit of auto insurance achieved double excellence, and the non-motor insurance transformation continued to make steady progress. The average production capacity of motor insurance and non-motor insurance customer managers in Nanjing was ranked first in the province.

Q1:How does it feel knowing that you’ve been awarded as AXA Star?

I am deeply proud, honored, and grateful for the recognition bestowed upon me by both my leaders and my colleagues. This award serves as a powerful catalyst, inspiring me to approach future endeavors with even greater courage and determination.

Q2:What are your habits to keep confident, healthy and positive?

I’m quite outdoorsy. I choose to go climbing with my children or have some leisure time in the park during the weekends.

Q3:Please share with us a book, a movie or a theatre piece.

I recommend “Beyond the Hills” by Wu Shihong, former CEO of Microsoft China, which vividly portrays his personal journey of overcoming painful confusion and assisting business managers while conquering challenges. Readers will sense her sense of courageous spirit that navigated through love, adversity and sacrifice.

It offers a treasure trove of life experience and workplace insights, akin to an apocalyptic saga, as in life, we all encounter numerous hills to climb on. Worth the reading.

正直之星——马亮

马亮于2011年加入安盛天平,主要负责车险反欺诈工作。连续三年在调查审核减损方面表现优异——2021年减损2465万,调查成功率28.5%;2022年减损3049万,调查成功率30.9%;2023年减损3297万,调查成功率32.5%。其中2023年调查审核减损科室排名第一,调查成功率连续三年科室排名第一。

2023年,马亮通过在线审核及时甄别机构查勘员疑似伪造伤残鉴定报告的行为,并后续通过协商推翻伤残鉴定,实现反欺诈减损。经过对比大量案件的伤残鉴定报告,他确认9宗案件伤残鉴定报告为伪造,涉及减损金额68万元。2023年9月,他协助制定了作业中心岗位融合学习计划,帮助控制台作业人员具备理赔全流程处理能力,调查岗及案件负责人交叉学习对应岗位理赔处理流程;截至2024年1月,两作业中心已有17人参与岗位融合,组织开展4次相关培训。

很高兴能获评正直之星,感谢公司给予我参评的机会,更要感谢领导、同事的支持。由于参评名额有限,很多优秀的同事都没能获得参选资格,我仅是理赔大家庭的普通一员,我想说他们每个人都是我心目中的安盛之星。

Q2:平时生活中有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

闲暇之余我喜欢追剧、看电影,看一些篮球和电子竞技的比赛。

Q3:请分享最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧。

分享一部“年度黑马”爆笑职场喜剧《年会不能停》。电影讲述了一个普通员工,因为一次错误调动所引发的一些列职场冲突跟笑点。在看似云淡风轻的笑点之下,影片想要探讨展现的是那些过于残酷的社会现状,以及调侃那些所谓的“职场文化”。片中暗讽了一些企业为了发展,将基层普通员工作为垫脚石。人人都知电影的故事情节纯属虚构,但有一种莫名的真实感,电影坐在普通打工人这一边,成为了打工人的“嘴替”。

Liang MA joined AXA Tianping in 2021, with primary responsibility on anti-fraud initiatives in motor. Over the past three years, he has consistently showcased exceptional performance in investigation and audit loss reduction. In 2021, he achieved a loss reduction of 24.65 million with a success rate of 28.5%. In 2022, the loss reduction was 30.49 million with a success rate of 30.9%. In 2023, he achieved a loss reduction of 32.97 million with a success rate of 32.5%. Notably, in 2023, his investigation and audit loss reduction department ranked first, and the success rate of the department has been ranked first for three consecutive years.

In 2023, Ma Liang promptly identified suspected fraudulent injury assessment reports by agency inspectors through online audits, and subsequently overturned the injury assessments through negotiation, achieving anti-fraud loss reduction. After comparing a large number of injury assessment reports across cases, he confirmed that nine cases involved fraudulent injury assessment reports, resulting in a loss reduction of 680,000 yuan. In September 2023, he assisted in developing an integrated job training plan for the operation center, helping console operators to possess the full process of claims handling capabilities. Investigators and case managers cross-learned the corresponding job claims handling processes. As of January 2024, 17 people from the two operation centers had participated in job integration, and four related trainings were organized.

Q1:How does it feel knowing that you’ve been awarded as AXA Star?

I incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the platform provided to me. Furthermore, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my leaders and my colleagues for their unwavering support. I recognize that many outstanding colleagues may not have the opportunity to be selected, and I am humbled by this acknowledgement. Within the Claims family, I consider myself just as one member among many deserving individuals. In my opinion, every team member has the potential to be awarded as AXA Star.

Q2:What are your habits to keep confident, healthy and positive?

I’m interested in sitcoms, movies, football match and video gaming.

Q3:Please share with us a book, a movie or a theatre piece.

I strongly recommend ” The Annual Show Must Go On”, definitely a dark horse comedy this year around an ordinary employee who is thrown into a series of workplace conflicts and humorous situations caused by a mistaken transfer. Beneath the seemingly light-hearted humor, the film explores the crucial reality as well as satirizes the supposed “workplace culture” and subtly criticizes certain companies that use ordinary grassroots employees as stepping stones for their own development. Everyone knows that the storyline of the film is purely fictional, but there is an inexplicable sense of realism. The film sides with the ordinary workers and becomes their “mouthpiece.”

In the AXA Star contest , altogether 22 AXA colleagues from headquarters and branches are entitled to awards of AXA Stars in Transformation , Customer First , Integrity , Courage , and One AXA . This special column was set up for them so we can all know their stories in living the AXA values and making their contribution to the company’s growth.

This month we will introduce stories of our Transformation Star – GE Minggang, Courage Star – ZHOU Rongbin, Transformation Star – ZHANG Xian, Customer Star- WANG Mei.

转型之星——葛明刚

葛明刚自2011年加入安盛,目前在济南中心支公司担任总经理助理。他全力达成业务既定目标,引导全险种模块推进业务,致力于做出有利润的业务规模。2021年葛明刚大力推动齐鲁保项目,宣导产品的理念,进企业、进社区、进乡村等,积极参与宣讲活动。2022年他细化指标跟进、过程努力追进,负责的车险业务分销计划7044万,达成7660万,达成率109%;电销计划1802万,达成1742万,达成率97%。

Q1:请您分享一下获得安盛之星是什么样的感受?

首先,我非常开心与荣幸,荣获安盛之星既是对自己工作的肯定,也是对团队共同努力的回报。荣誉离不开公司领导给予的信任与支持,更离不开同事们的帮助与鼓励。其次,获得安盛之星后,更加意识到自己的责任和使命,更加注重团队合作,发挥模范带头作用,与同事共同成长、共同进步,更好地为公司和团队做出贡献。

Q2:平时生活中您有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

平时生活中我一直有坚持早起的习惯。首先,早起有助于提高身体代谢,促进身体健康,有助于提高注意力和集中力,让人更加专注和清醒。其次,早起可以让我有足够的时间进行工作复盘和规划,利用早上的时间回顾近期工作的完成情况,总结经验和教训,思考对应的改进措施,同时规划下一步的目标及重点工作。

Q3:可以分享一下您最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧吗?

最近观看了电影《三大队》。影片中刑警队长程兵,身陷囹圄,脱下警服后仍旧执于追凶破案。他对正义的执念,既让人心酸,更为之敬仰。十年如一日的追凶,并不是每一个人都能为之坚守。但正因为有着这样精神如炬,信念如磐的人,这个世界才总是充满光明,充满希望。现实工作当中,我们同样需要程兵这样的执着和坚守,目标清晰,不轻易动摇,激发内在动力,面对困难和挑战,坚持不懈,勇于尝试,不断寻求更好的方法和解决方案,带领团队朝着共同的目标前进。

Transformation Star – GE Minggang

Since joining AXA in 2011, Ge Minggang has been the General Manager’s Assistant at the Jinan Branch. He pours his heart into fulfilling performance targets, leading all insurance segments to improve their operations to expand the branch’s profits. In 2021, he made great efforts to drive forward the Jinan Insurance Project (Qilubao), giving speeches on the advanced philosophy of the products in companies, communities, and rural regions. In 2022, Ge Minggang refined the indicators and closely followed company progress to catch up on targets. The motor insurance distribution plan he was responsible for had a fulfillment rate of 109%, reaching 76.6 million sales compared with the 70.44 million target. The e-commerce distribution plan had a fulfillment rate of 97%, reaching 17.42 million sales compared with the 18.02 million target.

Q1: Would you share with us how it feels to receive the AXA Star Award?

I am extremely happy and honored to have received the AXA Star Award. Winning this award recognizes my individual work and our team’s collective effort. I owe this success to the trust and support of my superiors and the help and encouragement of my colleagues. After receiving the AXA Star Award, I am clearer about my responsibilities and mission; I value teamwork more. I will live up to my exemplary role and grow with my colleagues to better contribute to our company and the team.

Q2: What habit or hobby do you have to keep up your confidence, health, and happiness?

I always get up early; it is very good for your health. Getting up early helps improve metabolism, enhance physical health, and elevate focus. As a result, I am more focused and alert. Getting up early also gives me enough time to review my work and plan for the next step. I will look at what I have learned and think about how to make improvements; I also plan for the goals at the next stage and key areas that need attention.

Q3: Can you share with us a book, film, or TV show you read or watched recently?

I recently watched the movie Endless Journey. The film follows the protagonist, police captain Cheng Bing, who pursues criminals after being released from prison and is no longer a policeman. His obsession with justice is heartbreaking and admirable. Not everyone can commit their life to chasing criminals for decades without stopping. However, people like him who have such unwavering faith and strong spirit make this world full of light and hope. In our work, we also need to have the same determination as Cheng Bing, staying resolutely on our path. When we face challenges and obstacles, we have the courage to keep looking for better solutions to lead the team towards our common goals.

勇敢之星——周荣斌

周荣斌从事保险行业15年,现担任江苏分公司副总经理,主要负责非车险业务版块的推动。他梳理市场渠道,通过基础工作管理、队伍专业经营提升健康险业绩平台。他致力于推动三级机构进行业务转型,调整保费结构、人员结构,对三级机构总进行非车知识培训。同时他积极组建非车专属队伍,并拟定试行健康险渠道专属基本法,队伍人力从2人增至16人。2022年,周荣斌推动江苏机构非车业务转型,将机构非车业务占比提升至24%,健康险月均平台突破至200万,商业险月均平台突破150万,零售险月均达成350万。

Q1:请您分享一下获得安盛之星是什么样的感受?

很开心能够获评“勇敢之星”的荣誉称号,能够深刻感受到公司对我工作的肯定。感谢领导同事的包容及相互配合,才能够给到我机会和发挥空间。获得该荣誉,也深深地感受到了压力及鞭策。今后的工作中,需要更加严格要求自身,要把工作做得更好。对擅长的板块,要继续加强,对于不足的板块,要主动学习提升,维护好该荣誉称号。

Q2:平时生活中您有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

除了工作外,平时生活中耗费时间最多的就是健身。好的身体状态,能让自己持续保持活力状态。当然,更是对自己、家庭的负责。

Q3:可以分享一下您最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧吗?

最近没有深度的去读书或者看剧。但是我每年都能够反复观看的一部剧是《法医秦明》系列。喜欢看悬疑类的书及剧,是从父母那里养成的习惯;喜欢法医系列,则和自己的大学专业选读有关。这部小说/剧,呈现了一幅现代法医、刑侦、与人性的故事。每个系列都会由很多小故事组成,非常适合时间不太充裕的“我们”。

Courage Star – ZHOU Rongbin

Worked in the insurance industry for 15 years, Zhou Rongbin is the Deputy-Manager of the Jiangsu Branch, mainly responsible for the promotion of non-motor segments for the branch. He streamlines market channels, enhancing health insurance platform performance through groundwork management and specialized team operations. Organizing non-motor insurance knowledge training for tertiary institutions, Zhou Rongbin drives business transformations at the tertiary level by adjusting the premium pricing structure and personnel operation systems. He also actively encouraged the formation of specialized non-motor insurance teams and proposed running pilot guidelines designed exclusively for managing health insurance channels. His two-member team expanded to a large family of 16 members. In 2022, Zhou led the transformation of the non-motor segments in the Jiangsu branch, increasing the proportion of non-motor business performance to 24%, with a health insurance monthly platform exceeding 2 million, commercial insurance monthly platform over 1.5 million, and retail insurance monthly averaging 3.5 million.

Q1: Would you share with us how it feels to receive the AXA Star Award?

I am delighted to receive the AXA “Stars of Courage” Award, and I really feel that the company recognizes and appreciates my work. I am really grateful for the patience and teamwork of my colleagues and superiors. It is thanks to them that I had the opportunity to shine and room to grow. I also feel more pressure to do even better in the future. I am determined to be more disciplined and deliver better performance at work in the future. I will continue to improve on the segments I excel in and take the initiative to learn and improve on the segments where I fall short at the moment. I will live up to the title of AXA’s “Stars of Courage”.

Q2: What habit or hobby do you have to keep up your confidence, health, and happiness?

Aside from work, I spend most of my time exercising. A good physical condition keeps my energy up. Of course, maintaining health is also my duty to myself and my family.

Q3: Can you share with us a book, film, or TV show you read or watched recently?

I haven’t had time to really delve into a new book or a show lately. But a TV show that I can watch again and again every year is the Medical Examiner Dr. Qin series. I inherited the love for the mystery genre from my parents. I like the Medical Examiner series because of the courses I studied in university. For these reasons, I watch the Medical Examiner Dr. Qin series again every year.

The novel and the TV adaptation tell a story of modern medical examiners, criminal investigations, and human nature. It consists of many mini-stories, very suitable for us who only have a little free time.

Medical examiner Qin Ming is the narrator of the story. He dissects case after case of strange happenings with professionalism and calmness. By meticulously examining the victim’s body, he with his team used forensic science to analyze and deduct the story behind the case, unveiling the truth of the crime, and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

This book/drama can’t be defined as belonging to the mystery or detective genre. A series of bizarre and complex cases show us the many faces of humanity: greed, jealousy, pride, wrath. When faced with choices between life and death, good and evil, some people’s lives are changed forever with just one thought. In the stories, there is family loyalty and betrayal, adoration and control for one’s children, and desire and fear of power. These intricate emotions and dilemmas are all presented by Medical Examiner Dr. Qin.

I highly recommend you to have a look at the series.

转型之星——张弦

张弦自2009年2月加入安盛,目前在培训发展部负责培训管理工作。面临公司非车转型发展,张弦作为培训讲师一直积极思考和探索非车专业能力与技能的提升。她主动了解行业动态,提前熟知非车业务,潜心挖掘消费市场,积极探索非车销售思路,激发客户需求,帮助客户搭配非车产品,进而促进非车业绩增长。她致力于组织搭建直销在线中心非车培训体系,多维度开发课程15门,覆盖2961人次,覆盖率达99%。试点班整体非车业绩产能从训前保费1086842元提升至训后的1360973元,提升幅度高达25%。

Q1:请您分享一下获得安盛之星是什么样的感受?

能成为本届转型之星的获得者之一,我感到十分荣幸。人们常说一粒种子只有深植于一片沃土,才能拥有无限生机;我觉得一个人也是一样,只有置身于一个努力拼搏的氛围里才会有进步,才能蓬勃向上。我非常有幸能够来到这片沃土,在它的培养造就下,小小的我才得以成长。这份荣誉,也是对我们团队成员在转型道路上共同努力的肯定,我们将带着这份动力,继续密切配合公司领导的战略思路,保持开拓进取的心态,携手并进,不断前行。

Q2:平时生活中您有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

善于发现生活中的点滴美好。生活是丰富多彩的,从不同的角度去观察生活,能够发现不同的美。有时是温暖的阳光、有时是翠绿的植物、有时是可爱的朋友、有时是意想不到的惊喜……这些美好的瞬间会让我感到无比的幸福和满足,从而对生活保持着热爱,因为热爱生活而被治愈,这本就是积极反馈的循环。

Transformation Star – ZHANG Xian

Zhang Xian joined AXA in February 2009; she is working on training and management at the Department of Training and Development. Faced with the company’s transition to non-motor insurance, Zhang Xian has taken the time to consider and explore, as a training coach, improving her skill sets for non-motor segment operations. She took the initiative to learn about the latest news in the industry and studied ahead on non-motor insurance, spending her time digging potentials in the consumer market. She eagerly combed through sales strategies for the non-motor segments. She inspired consumers to realize their needs while helping them to organize a non-motor product portfolio, increasing sales numbers. Zhang Xian organized and constructed an on-the-job training system for non-motor operations at the direct sales online center, developing 15 multi-dimensional courses attended by 2,961 people, with a coverage rate of 99%. The non-motor business performance was consequently improved. Her pilot courses improved non-motor business performance by 25%, from the pre-training number of 1,086,842 RMB to the post-training number of 1,360,973 RMB.

Q1: Would you share with us how it feels to receive the AXA Star Award?

I am honored to be one of the people to receive the AXA Star in Transformation. People often say a seed needs fertile land to live up to all its thriving potential. I think the same is true for people: one only progress in an environment of striving for success. I am very fortunate to have found the “fertile land” for my growth; my achievements are thanks to its nurturing and encouragement. This honor is also a recognition of our team members’ collective efforts on the path of transformation. We will continue to closely align with the company’s strategic direction, maintain a pioneering spirit, and move forward together

Q2: What habit or hobby do you have to keep up your confidence, health, and happiness?

I have an eye for small happiness in life. Life is iridescent. You find different beauty in it from different angles. Beauty is the warm sunshine, the verdant plants, lovely friends, and unexpected surprises… these moments make me immensely satisfied and joyous. I am passionately in love with life, and in turn, my heartaches get healed because of that love. It’s a positive cycle.

Q3: Can you share with us a book, film, or TV show you read or watched recently?

Life is Short, by Wang Zengqi, encourages you not to let a day of perfect weather and a good cup of tea go to waste. Mr. Wang Zengqi doesn’t entice you with dramatic stories or cunning plots. His writing is a flowing stream that nourishes your heart as you read the book. It is like listening to a kind elder telling you about the things he learned in life. You can feel a gentle but firm strength between the lines; at the same time, he is also so very humorous about it! It is lovely and healing. Little sparkling moments in every day are the best things about life.

Q2:平时生活中您有哪些保持自信、健康、快乐的习惯或者爱好?

日常生活中,我极为注重通过健康饮食和旅行的方式来保持自信、健康及快乐。对于饮食,我钟情于控油少盐的健康饮食习惯,确保身体得到充分滋养。与此同时,旅行是我疏解繁忙生活压力的绝佳方式,让我有机会沉浸在不同的文化和风景中,从而为生活注入活力和新鲜感。这两个习惯不仅让我在享受美食的同时保持身体健康,也让我在探索世界的过程中找到内心的平衡,持续保持快乐年轻的心态。

Q3:可以分享一下您最近在看的一本书、一部电影或一部剧吗?

最近看了一部50年前的老电影《十二怒汉》,电影讲述了一个几乎就被定罪的弑父少年的案子,在庭审之后由十二个男人组成的陪审团讨论案情的故事。电影开始在一个纽约法院的门口,经过一个简短的庭辩总结之后,进入了陪审团讨论阶段。

电影里谈到了权力,亨利·方达所饰演的陪审员指责另一位陪审员说:我们有什么权力如此轻描淡写且毫不讨论地把另一个人的生命结束了呢。结束他人的性命并不是一件可以如此轻率的事,本来应该没有任何疑问的一场投票因为对生命应有的尊重而变得有点扑朔迷离了。大量的长镜头和语速极快的讨论,平和的反驳和合理的推断,这场长达九十分钟的辩论扣人心弦,节奏利落,结构紧凑,主题严肃,丝毫不因故事场景的局限性而显得沉闷。

以现在来说;两个月前的电影已经不算新片了。而这部穿越了50年时光的电影在如今看来依旧还能让人横生感触,这让我相信了经典。时光流逝,总有些东西会被遗忘;而有些东西则总会被人说起、想起并最终记住。

Customer Star- WANG Mei

Wang Mei has worked in the Claims Department for years. She is currently at the Claims Customer Service Department of the Tianjin Branch on legal management of personal injuries. She is a long-time practitioner of the service principle “from payer to partner”. With professionalism and a dutiful personality, she led the medical claims investigation team to make a proactive transformation and insist on improving service quality through the consumers’ perspectives and demands. Her concrete actions drove operation development, effectively facilitating the sustained development of the company’s business. With her professional knowledge and rich experience, Wang Mei has been selected as the mediator for insurance contract disputes in the Tianjin insurance industry for consecutive years, with a high degree of customer satisfaction rate, and has received unanimous praise from many third-party organizations and the court.

Q1: Would you share with us how it feels to receive the AXA Star Award?

Receiving the AXA Star Award marks a significant milestone in my career. It is not only a recognition of my own work but also the result of our outstanding teamwork. I am proud but also inspired to become better. I believe the award injects new motivations into my career. I will take this opportunity to work harder and create more value for the company. The award is the answer to my hard work of the past; it is also the beginning of achieving new heights in the future. I must thank my colleagues and the company for their support. Hopefully, we can deliver more excellent performance in the future, making contributions to the company’s future through our collective efforts.

Q2: What habit or hobby do you have to keep up your confidence, health, and happiness?

I think it is really important to travel and maintain a healthy diet to stay confident, healthy, and happy. I am particularly partial to less oil and less salt diet to make sure my body gets enough nourishment. Travel is a great way for me to relieve stress. It gives me the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures and experience beautiful scenery, pumping new, refreshing energy into my life. These two habits help me enjoy great food and maintain physical health, keeping my internal balance as I explore the world and staying forever young and happy.

Q3: Can you share with us a book, film, or TV show you read or watched recently?

I recently watched Twelve Angry Men, an old movie from 50 years ago. The film tells the story of a boy in charge of patricide. Following the court proceedings, a jury of twelve men discuss his case. The first scene is at the front of a New York courthouse; after a brief summary of the case, the jury deliberation phase begins.

The film addresses the issue of power, with Henry Fonda’s character accusing another juror, What right do we have to kill someone so casually and without discussion? Ending another person’s life is not a matter to be taken lightly, and what should have been an unquestionable vote is now complicated by respect for life. With extensive long takes and rapid-paced discussions, calm rebuttals, and logical deductions, the ninety-minute debate is captivating, well-paced, tightly structured, and solemn. The story is never dull despite being set in a confined space.

Today, a movie from two months ago no longer counts as new. Yet, this film of 50 years ago still resonates today. I now believe that there are things such as timeless classics. Some may be forgotten with time. But some remains to be talked about, thought about, and remembered.

The year 2023 was the first complete fiscal year we have been through together with me as your CEO. It is the first year after the pandemic came to an end, a year of many challenges in the macroeconomic environment, and a year of critical transformations for AXA Tianping. As competition pressure mounts in the industry, our company has consistently implemented a “profit-oriented” value system, based on which a series of bold reforms were carried out. We made some necessary, albeit painful, decisions to cut down on our losses. Despite the limited resources we had to work with, our solidarity, tenacity, and hard work helped us deliver commendable results. We should all be very proud of our achievements!

At the recent annual corporate meeting, we reviewed our milestones and successes of 2023, taking great pride in how we responded in times of great trial and adversity. In 2023, our company received a premium income of 6.35 billion, which increased by 8% year-over-year; the annual loss was reduced by 60% compared to 2022, marking the most extensive loss reduction since AXA Tianping became a wholly-owned subsidiary. Eleven branches achieved direct profitability for the entire 2023, with Shandong, Ningbo, and Sichuan branches ranking in the top three. Nineteen branches see improvement in their profitability status compared with 2022. The company’s solvency ratio was 239%, up 37 percentage points from 2022. AXA Tianping scored 80.9 on the consumer protection risk assessment and a Level 2B rating, making significant progress since last year’s rating of Level 3A. We also responded to calls from the government and regulatory bodies to become one of the first insurance companies to establish a reinsurance center in Shanghai Lin-gang, and completed the first-ever contract signed on the platform. With proactive, concrete actions, we are resolute in support of national policies and strategies. On the eve of the 60th anniversary of China and France establishing diplomatic relations in 2024, we leveraged our resources to reach strategic collaboration agreements with top-tier state-owned insurance companies, which landed us contracts worth hundreds of millions and opened new doors in business and operation.

Now, we stand on the doorstep of 2024, and this will be a crucial year for us as we turn losses into profits. Market uncertainties will test our focus and strategy more than ever. We need to stay resolutely on track of long-term development to enhance our capabilities. With an eye always on profit, we commit to quality growth for the company in exploring a development path unique to AXA Tianping. As the headquarters steer the ship, overseeing our general strategic direction, our local branches seek to find openings and breakthroughs in the regional market by conducting in-depth research and focusing resources on sectors with excellent opportunities. 2023年6月,国家金融监督管理总局与上海市政府共同发布《关于加快推进上海国际再保险中心建设的实施细则》的政策号召。安盛天平迅速启动内部资源整合与筹建工作,在集团最高层领导的鼎力支持下,安盛天平上海再保险运营中心在8月14日顺利获得国家金融监督管理总局批复,我们有幸成为首批入驻临港新片区再保险国际交易中心的先锋险企,中国速度与法国速度完美契合。10月26日,在2023上海国际再保险会议开幕仪式上,安盛天平上海再保中心与临港新片区管委会、上海保交所签署了三方合作框架协议,标志着安盛天平上海再保中心成为再保险“国际板”的创始成员。

11月6日,安盛天平应邀参加第六届中国国际进口博览会,并举办了再保险“国际板”首单国际分入合约签署仪式。国家金融监督管理总局上海监管局党委书记、局长王俊寿,法国驻上海总领事王度(Joan Valadou)等多位重量级嘉宾共同见证了安盛扎根中国的全新一步。首单签约具有双重意义——交易双方均在再保险“国际板”登记注册,并通过再保险交易中心国际再保险业务平台完成交易;而首单业务也是对国家倡导的“港车北上”政策的积极响应,体现了安盛为粤港澳大湾区一体化融合发展贡献保险力量。

In 2024, China and France will celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations establishment; and AXA will mark its 25th year in China. Milestones for AXA in China

Founded in 1817, AXA is one of the world’s leading insurance and asset management groups, with its headquarters stationed in Paris, France. It is one of the most valuable insurance companies, taking the title of the world’s best insurance brand for 10 consecutive years between 2009 and 2018. In the Best Global Brands ranking posted by Interbrand, the internationally renowned brand consultancy, AXA took 44th place in 2023.

In 1999, AXA entered the Chinese market and was privileged to witness and participate in the country’s breathtaking financial reforms. It is safe to say that every AXA milestone was achieved through the beneficial business environment and the firm support from every level of the government.

In December 2020, AXA completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in AXA Tianping, making the company “the first foreign-owned P&C insurer in China”. By taking full control of AXA Tianping’s management, AXA is expanding its services from car insurance to diversified offerings, including insurance for health, corporate, accident, and more. AXA Tianping endeavors to fulfill people’s wishes for happiness and more comprehensively serve small, medium, and micro-enterprises as well as the real economy in general. Through a nationwide footprint of 25 branches covering 20 provinces, we serve over 3 million individual and commercial clients in China.

In 2022, AXA entered a new phase of outstanding development and profitable growth, characterized by “diverse products, quality control, and continuous expansion”, providing a range of synergized products and services across health, motor, accident, and commercial lines. AXA Tianping proactively responds to regulatory changes in China while strictly complying with both the Group’s ESG initiatives and industry standards. AXA Tianping made 2022 a year for ESG dedications: in April, we established an ESG Committee led by the CEO, putting down an action framework for sustainable development based on realistic self-assessment, sustainability corporate strategy of the Group, and green finance policies. Our actions revolve around four core areas: low-carbon green initiatives, inclusive finance and social responsibility, talent empowerment, innovative digitalization, and compliance.

For low-carbon green initiatives, AXA Tianping leverages the global experience and technical expertise of the Group to promote innovative iterations of new energy vehicle insurance, boosting its share of the total motor insurance to 10% in 2023, a figure that far surpasses industry peers. Additionally, our advanced catastrophe loss modeling and extensive underwriting experience allow us to implement multiple weather index-based insurance across the provinces of Xinjiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Shaanxi. AXA Tianping is also involved in the promotion of intelligent agriculture with the weather index, which is not only beneficial to the alleviation of extreme weather’s impact on public welfare, but helps to enrich the multi-layered risk-sharing mechanism with fiscal support too. We boost the level of risk resistance and safe production guarantee for local regions by maximizing the financial leverage effect of insurance.

On the inclusive finance and social responsibility front, AXA Tianping proactively responds to national policies to reduce gaps in social security, offering protection for vulnerable and low-income populations. We also actively participate in supplementary insurance projects like Huiminbao in various cities and towns, such as Jinan, Xuzhou, Wenshan, Yulin, and Qinzhou, in close collaboration with local governments. In January 2023, with the support of the Group, our joint study with the Chinese Academy of Financial Inclusion (CAFI) of Renmin University of China, Constructing a Healthy Finance for Families Amidst Uncertainties: a Study of the Family Finance Diary of Low to Middle-Income Families in China, was published. Highlighting the genuine financial needs and challenges faced by these families in accessing financial services, this research looked into 197 low to middle-income families in Hunan, Shaanxi, and Shanghai. It provides a solid foundation for us to develop our inclusive insurance measures further. In terms of social responsibility, AXA Tianping has worked with the Ai You Foundation for three consecutive years and has organized more than 30 volunteer events, both online and offline. We brought comfort, joy, and companionship to hundreds of critically ill and disadvantaged children, and donated a total of 600,000 RMB.

For talent empowerment, the three pillar values of AXA Tianping, “prevention, care, and support”, remain front and center in our endeavors to offer long-term support for our employees’ mental and physical well-being. As for innovative digitalization and compliance, AXA Tianping builds its operation on the solid ground of standardized corporate governance, long-term professional assurance, and systematic risk control. We continue to structurally improve our capabilities in risk management and solvency for a corporate culture defined by compliance and stability.

From Lujiazui to Dishui Lake

AXA’s promise to the Chinese market and the corporate responsibility it adheres to is to leverage AXA’s professional strength in insurance protection and risk management to promote the real economy while protecting financial and social stability. The progress of the financial industry relies on embracing an open market. Answering national strategies and government callings at the first instance, AXA Tianping seized the historic opportunity of the Shanghai Reinsurance Center establishment and immediately committed to building an international platform for Shanghai.

In June 2023, the National Financial Regulatory Administration and the Shanghai Municipal Government jointly released Guidelines for Accelerating the Construction of the Shanghai International Reinsurance Center. AXA Tianping quickly moved into motion, leveraging internal resources in preparation for the center’s construction. Backed by firm support from the Group’s executives, AXA Tianping Shanghai Reinsurance Operation Center was approved by the National Financial Regulatory Administration on August 14. We became one of the pioneering insurance companies in the Lin-gang Special Area International Reinsurance Trading Center. The speed of China and the speed of France were perfectly in sync. During the opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Reinsurance Conference on October 26, AXA Tianping Shanghai Reinsurance Center signed a collaboration framework agreement with the Lin-gang Special Area Management Committee and Shanghai Insurance Exchange. Hence, AXA Tianping became a founding member of the Shanghai international reinsurance platform.

On November 6, AXA Tianping was invited to the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE), and hosted the ceremony for the first contract signing on the Shanghai international reinsurance platform. Many esteemed guests, including Wang Junshou, the Party Secretary and Director of the National Financial Regulatory Administration Shanghai Branch, and Joan Valadou, Consulate General of France in Shanghai, were in attendance to witness AXA taking a firm step in its commitment to China. The signing of the first contract is highly significant in two ways: firstly, it represents the two parties to the contract have registered and completed a transaction on the international reinsurance platform of the Reinsurance Trading Center. Secondly, it is an active answer to the call of the “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles” national policy, meaning AXA has contributed its professional strength in insurance to the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As the world is on the cusp of great changes that have not been seen in a century, a harmonious, secure relationship between China and France, the two great civilizations from East and West, is more important than ever.
